Biography

Dr. Donaldson is the Director of the Computer Science program at Samford and co-directs the Computational Biology program. In addition to Computer Science, he teaches in the University Fellows and Science and Religion programs and is one of the co-founders of the Samford University Center for Science and Religion. His interests in cognition, models of intelligence, autonomous systems, self-organization and emergence, and the interface of science and religion have led him to pursue a number of interdisciplinary teaching and research opportunities and several of his research students have won awards for their conference presentations.

Dr. Donaldson enjoys mountain climbing, whitewater kayaking, snow skiing, cycling, backpacking, running, weight lifting, reading and writing. He and his wife Carol have five children.
